Tencent Expands Middle East Cloud Footprint Amid Rising Regional Demand
Tencent Holdings Ltd. is planting its flag deeper in the Middle East’s cloud infrastructure race, announcing new data center plans for Saudi Arabia. The MOVE positions China’s tech titan against US hyperscalers in a market where IT spending is projected to grow 9% annually through 2025.
The expansion serves gaming studios and food delivery platform Keeta—existing clients requiring low-latency infrastructure. While Tencent hasn’t disclosed whether its Saudi facilities are self-built or colocation partnerships, local system integrators are already leveraging its ecosystem.
Cloud wars in MENA are heating up. Tencent’s early foothold gives it an edge in serving regional enterprises, but the real test will be outperforming Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure on localized services.
